First Aid Courses come in two very distinct formats:
Regulated
those required under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and controlled by the Health and Safety Executive HSE. These are professional courses which provide full certification by Ofqual and are the recognised training for business and industry
Level 3 courses
First Aid at Work (FAW)is the highest level First Aider qualification, and requires attendance for a minimum of 18 hours theory and practical, this is generally completed over 3 consecutive days, but can be run over a 6 week period of 3 hour sessions.
Re-qualification of FAW, this is a 2 day refresher course requiring 12 hours training, which must be completed within 3 years of the initial certificate – failure to do this will require attendance for the full 3 day course.
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) this is also a level 3 course and is completed on 1 day or as 3 sessions of 2 hours, it provides a competency suitable for most low hazard risk environments and includes dealing with a unresponsive, non-breathing casualties, unconscious casualties, choking, wounds and bleeding. Certification is valid for 3 years and re-qualification is by repeating the course.
Paediatric First Aid this is a Level 3 course is designed for anyone working in the children as Nannies, Child Care providers, Nursery nurses or in an environment where children are being cared for and a full qualification certificate is required under HSE regulations.
Emergency Paediatric First Aid This Level 3 course is for anyone working in a childcare environment where the requirement is for an emergency only certificate, as a support to a fully certificated member of staff or as a teacher or coach.
Forestry workers have very specific needs, dealing with catastrophic bleeding and falls from a height. We can provide and add on course to either First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work
Non-Regulated or Vocational Courses CPD requirements
Group Training which meets the requirements of other organisations such as Sports Clubs, Activity Groups and Schools and Colleges and include basic life support skills and features designed to cover the specific requirements of the group.
Sports coaches are required by their qualifying organisations to have undergone First Aid Training as part of their duty of care to the sportsmen and women they are coaching Sports and Activity First Aid
If you’re a road user we can offer a specific session providing the knowledge you need in the event of a road accident. This is especially relevant to new and inexperienced drivers First Aid for Road Users
Duke of Edinburgh Award team training for activities
Immediate Life Support (ILS) and Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) certification for Dentist and Dental teams where sedation is used, either intravenous or inhalation
